Bruce Glikas/Bruce Glikas/FilmMagic“Believe” it: Cher‘s life and music are now on Broadway. And Monday night at the official premiere of The Cher Show, Cher admitted that she has mixed feelings about seeing her story play out on stage.

“It’s very fun sometimes, and it’s very, very, very difficult sometimes,” said the ageless star. “It’s just so close to the bone.”

In The Cher Show, Cher is portrayed by three different actresses, each representing a different phase of her career: The Babe, The Lady and The Star.  Cher gives all of them a big thumbs-up.

“The actors in this play, I couldn’t have gone anywhere and found better people. I am not kidding,” she told reporters. “When I see them sometimes, I’m, like, in tears.”

As for why her fans will like the musical, Cher said, simply, ‘Well, if they like me, they’re gonna like the show!”

Among the celebrities at the premiere: Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West — who was called out for being on his phone during the show — plus Tina Fey, Nia Vardalos, Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, Keegan-Michael Key and Cher’s legendary costume designer, Bob Mackie.

“Her life story is our life story because we all grew up with Cher,” Cher’s friend Nia Vardalos said. “What I love…is seeing how the audience relates to her and loves her, because I love her. She deserves a Broadway musical of her life.”

Fey praised Cher’s “fearlessness of doing different things and challenging herself in different ways.”  But perhaps Adam Rippon said it best.

“She is unabashedly a performer. I think she’s not afraid to step out of the box, she’s not afraid to take risks,” he said. “I look to her and I see that you never stop learning, you never stop growing and it’s really inspiring.”
