The victim in an early Tuesday morning fatal fire at a Yellville residence has been identified as 41-year-old Shawnna Hammond. Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans says 21-year-old Michael Nemeth was still listed in critical, but stable condition Tuesday evening. Nemeth was airlifted to a Springfield hospital following the fire reported at 1:04 Tuesday morning at 904 North Wickersham.

Marion County Office of Emergency Management Director Keith Edmonds said earlier three people were in the house and four people were in a camper trailer parked next to the residence. Edmonds says the electricity to the camper trailer went out and a male went to the house to investigate. When he entered the home, the wall where the breaker box is located was on fire.

Firefighters from Yellville, Summit, Flippin and Ralph-Caney spent three and a half hours battling what Edmonds termed a “fast moving fire.” The house and the camper trailer are listed as a total loss. An adjacent house received minor damage from the fire as well.

Edmonds says from their preliminary investigation they believe the fire was electrical in nature. Sheriff Evans said late Tuesday there are no criminal actions noted at this time.
