Baxter County and Circuit Clerk Canda Reese says two individuals contacted her office Wednesday advising they had received phone calls advising them warrants would be issued for them for failure to respond to an official summons for jury duty. To avoid the warrants, the individuals could make a payment.Reese says these calls are attempted scams, as the sheriff’s office would not contact members of the public in this manner.Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says this type of scam has been reported locally for some time, and his department has made numerous attempts to warn the public of these efforts.
