An enrollment orientation session for the Arkansas National Guard Youth Challenge Program is scheduled for Friday in Mountain Home. The Youth Challenge Program offers an alternative to completing high school for at-risk youth.The Youth Challenge orientation for North Central Arkansas will be held at 9:00 Friday morning at the Baxter County Juvenile Services office, located at 312 Bomber Boulevard in Mountain Home.
In an earlier visit to Mountain Home, Youth Challenge Recruiter Harold Hall said they are mainly looking for students having issues with a traditional high school.

While the program works in coordination with Juvenile Services, it’s not an official part of the court system. Hall says the Youth Challenge is strictly a volunteer program.
Friday’s orientation is for potential students from Baxter, Marion, Fulton, Izard, Newton, Searcy, Boone, Sharp, Carroll and Independence counties.
Cheryl Green, 14th Judicial District Circuit Court Juvenile Division director, says the local event allows an opportunity for the youth and family to attend the initial mandated orientation session without driving all the way to Little Rock.
Applicants must be 16-18 years of age, with no felony convictions and be a legal resident of Arkansas.
