High school basketball makes up much of the local Friday schedule as Mountain Home will be among area schools in tournament action. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will play their second games in the Cabot Pre-Holiday Classic.
Mountain Home’s boys will hit the court first as they meet Little Rock Catholic in the consolation semifinals. The Bombers are currently 2-3 after their loss Thursday to Pulaski Academy. The Rockets’ opening round game was Tuesday when they fell to Searcy. Tip-off at CHS Arena is scheduled for 5:30.
The Mountain Home girls will follow as they face Beebe in the semifinals. The Lady Bombers began their run in the tournament by pounding J.A. Fair on Thursday. Beebe advanced to the semis with a win over Pine Bluff. Gametime is set for 7:00.

Gainesville’s boys will wrap up action in the 82nd-annual Mansfield Invitational Basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs take on Conway for the consolation title at 4 p.m.
The semifinals of the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament will be held at Becknell Gymnasium in Batesville. In girls’ action, Melbourne tips off at 4:00 against Bald Knob, and Mountain View plays Highland at 6:30. The Melbourne boys will be paired with Southside Batesville at 7:45.
Elsewhere, Cotter hosts Decatur starting at 4:00, Norfork entertains Bruno-Pyatt, Flippin is home against Eureka Springs for Homecoming, Yellville-Summit hosts Haas Hall Academy, Lutie travels to Niangua, Dora’s boys entertain Mountain View-Liberty, the Calico Rock boys are home against St. Joe with the start time moved up to 4:30, Izard County hosts Omaha, Timbo entertains Mount Vernon-Enola, Rural Special makes the trip to Shirley, Bergman is home against Rose Bud, Valley Springs heads to Clinton, Western Grove travels to Center Ridge to meet Nemo Vista, and Jasper hosts the New School for Homecoming.
