Gainesville’s boys ended up finishing sixth in the Mansfield Invitational Basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs lost the consolation final to Conway 42-38.
The Melbourne girls will advance to the championship game of the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament in Batesville. The Lady Bearkatz beat up on Bald Knob 63-34 in the first semifinal.
Melbourne’s last opponent in the tournament will be Mountain View. The Lady Yellowjackets defeated Highland by a final of 63-42.
Melbourne did not fare as well as their female counterparts. The Bearkatz were sent to the third place game after falling to Southside Batesville 60-29.
Flippin’s high school teams had mixed results as they hosted Eureka Springs for Homecoming. The Bobcats won the boys’ game over the Highlanders 49-39. It was a different result in the girls’ contest as Flippin fell to Eureka Springs 45-37.
Yellville-Summit swept a pair of high school basketball games over Haas Hall Academy. The mercy rule was invoked in the girls’ game as the Lady Panthers routed the Lady Mastiffs 57-25. Yellville-Summit also dominated the boys’ game with a 57-33 decision.
Dora’s boys remain undefeated on the year. The Falcons, currently ranked second in Missouri’s Class 1, pounded Mountain View-Liberty 71-42.
The Calico Rock boys were able to bounce back from their loss in the Battle of the Border Tournament at Mammoth Spring. The Pirates picked up a 57-27 victory at home over St. Joe.
Timbo’s high school squads were swept at home by Mount Vernon-Enola. The Tigers lost the boys’ contest to the Warhawks 66-59. Timbo also fell to Mount Vernon-Enola 76-23 in the girls’ game.
Rural Special was able to sweep a pair of high school games at Shirley. The Lady Rebels pounded the Lady Blue Devils 67-40. Rural Special’s boys were able to follow by topping Shirley 57-50.
The Bergman boys grabbed a dominating victory at home Friday. The Panthers destroyed Rose Bud by a score of 89-48.
Both of Valley Springs’ high school teams were able to get victories at Clinton. The Lady Tigers beat up on the Lady Yellowjackets 54-32. The boys’ contest was not as lopsided, but Valley Springs came out on top 49-45.
Mountain Home Christian Academy picked up two wins in three games at Lebanon.
The Eagles took the varsity boys’ game over the Rockets 64-54. Matt Woods led Mountain Home Christian with 21 points, and Cooper Long added 18.
Mountain Home Christian did not fare as well in the girls’ contest as they lost to Lebanon 49-39. The Lady Eagles were led by Naomi Spray with 21 points.
In the 14-and-under boys’ game, Mountain Home Christian won 56-19. Trenton Cox had 17 points, and Gideon Spray chipped in 13.
