Dolly Parton’s been busy lately promoting the new Dumplin’ movie and its soundtrack. But in the middle of making the media rounds, the superstar has also been dealing with a family tragedy: her brother, Floyd, passed away Thursday, December 6 at the age of 61.
Floyd wrote Dolly’s chart-topping 1991 duet with Ricky Shelton, “Rockin’ Years,” as well as the Heartbreaker track, “Nickels and Dimes.”
Floyd Parton’s obituary notes the family held a private service, and calls Floyd “a renaissance man” who was “an avid outdoorsman” as well as “an incredible cook.” He’s survived by his ten siblings.
So far, Dolly hasn’t spoken publicly about the loss of her brother.
