Dora boys win Cabool Holiday Tournament

Dora’s boys were able to hold on to win the championship of the Cabool Holiday Tournament. The Falcons squeaked by Licking 63-61. Isaac Haney was Dora’s top scorer with 28 points, Mason Luna had 14, and Bryson Luna added 12. The Falcons are now 11-1 on the year.

The Dora girls ended up falling short of the consolation championship in the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament. The Lady Falcons lost to Eminence 59-51.

The North Arkansas College Invitational Senior High Tournament began Saturday at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison.
Cotter’s girls were eliminated in the first round after getting edged out by Omaha 46-45. Samantha Sanchez led the Lady Warriors with 14 points, and Kaylee Crownover added ten. Cotter falls to 8-11 on the season. The Lady Eagles will return to Harrison Thursday to face the winner of Monday’s game between Jasper and Deer.
Flippin was also bounced from the girls bracket. The Lady Bobcats lost to Alpena 55-14.
Marshall’s girls advanced to the quarterfinals with a 51-46 victory over Bergman. The Lady Bobcats will be paired with top-seeded Norfork on Wednesday.
Lead Hill fell just short of advancing to the next round. The Lady Tigers ended up losing to Kingston 55-52.
Flippin was able to move on to the boys’ quarterfinals after topping Kingston 71-59. The Bobcats will return to Harrison on Wednesday to play Monday’s winner between Bruno-Pyatt and Bergman.
Yellville-Summit’s boys were one and done in the tournament after falling to Marshall 63-61. The Bobcats’ quarterfinal game will be Thursday when they face either Cotter or Deer.
Lead Hill was eliminated from the boys’ bracket with an 86-40 loss to Western Grove. The Warriors will be matched up with either Norfork or Jasper on Thursday.
The first boys’ game of the day ended with a loss for Omaha. The Eagles fell to Alpena 68-62.

Izard County’s boys finished fourth in the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Classic at Highland with a 91-70 loss to Marion. The Cougars were led by Justus Cooper with 26 points, and Caleb Faulkner scored 22. Izard County’s record drops to 20-4.
