A Henderson husband and wife appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered guilty pleas to charges against them.
Twenty-nine-year-old Joey Denwalt and 27-year-old Monica Denwalt were both facing drug-related charges, with the husband having cases in both Baxter and Fulton counties.
Joey Denwalt was sentenced to six years in prison and Monica Denwalt to six years probation. Joey Denwalt’s sentence will run concurrent with one he received in Fulton County for stealing a utility trailer and a Can-Am UTV.
Fulton County authorities arrested Joey Denwalt in late December last year after he was found hiding in a storage unit belonging to his father. He admitted to the theft of the UTV and trailer. He said he had sold the UTV to a man in East Arkansas for $1,000.
Joey Denwalt faced charges in two Baxter County cases. One set of charges stemmed from a compliance visit to the couple’s residence in mid-December last year. The residence was home to three probationers — the Denwalt couple and Tyler Bell.
According to the probable cause affidavit, officers found a number of used syringes and other items of drug paraphernalia sitting on a coffee table in the living room.
A small safe attached to a wall in the living room contained numerous syringes, as well as spoons, cotton filters and other items said to be commonly used by intravenous drug users.
In the dining room of the home, officers found a piece of notebook paper appearing to be a ledger, documenting the sales, purchases and trades of illegal drugs. The ledger recorded money owed, funds received and noted an instance where a chainsaw was traded for drugs.
Joey Denwalt was also arrested and charged with possessing methamphetamine, morphine and various items of drug paraphernalia after being pulled over in a traffic stop in September last year.
