Tuesday was a busy day at the Baxter County Airport beginning with the commission’s regular meeting. The board welcomed new commission member Scott Copeland and later heard from Dan Clinton of Grimes Consulting with an update on current projects including a hangar project and replacing the runway lights with LEDs. The commission also approved a request from Steve Johnson to use the terminal building for weekly meetings of the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
Following the meeting, Eric Pfeifer of Coffman Associates, Airport Engineers, previewed the airport’s master plan proposal. A master plan must be submitted every seven-to-ten years for an airport to qualify for grants from the state and the Federal Aviation Administration.
An open house was later held at the terminal allowing commission members and the public to have input into proposed airport growth and the planning for the master plan.
