A Baxter County man, 29-year-old Christopher Scott Smith of Norfork, is being held on charges stemming from an incident in late 2017 following a domestic battery incident.Information from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office indicates Smith had been incarcerated in a Missouri prison facility and was returned here Saturday.
According to the probable cause affidavit, law enforcement took a report from a female victim in December 2017 following the alleged domestic battery incident.
The woman told law enforcement she left an undisclosed residence the prior evening after Smith reportedly threw her against a wall in their bedroom, then headbutted her.
The victim said a few days prior to the incident, during a verbal altercation, Smith pulled a small handgun from his waistband and held it against her head demanding her to shut up or he would kill her.
The woman alleged Smith was attempting to make her steal personal information from articles in the attic of the residence belonging to her landlord. The information would then be used to fraudulently obtain credit cards. The two had fought over this matter, leading to the domestic battery incident.
Smith’s bond was set at $20,000 in connection with the incident on a felony charge of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor count of domestic battery.
