Scott Dudelson/Getty ImagesFounding Creedence Clearwater Revival drummer Doug “Cosmo” Clifford recently revealed that after his current group Creedence Clearwater Revisited retires from touring in the coming months, he’ll be focusing on some new music projects. Now Clifford, who co-leads Creedence Revisited with CCR bassist Stu Cook, has shared some details about those projects.

The 74-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer tells ABC Radio that one project is an album “that’s ready to come out” featuring unreleased tracks that he wrote or co-wrote with various musicians. Among the collaborations are tracks he made, separately, with late Greg Kihn Band bassist Steve Wright, ex-Derek and the Dominos member Bobby Whitlock and guitarist Russell DaShiell, with whom he and Cook played during the late 1970s in the Don Harrison Band.

Clifford says he found some of the material “hidden away in the last year or two,” and was pleasantly surprised with its quality.

Doug reports that his work with Wright, who co-wrote Kihn’s hits “Jeopardy” and “The Breakup Song,” yielded “at least an album’s worth of material.” He notes that their group featured “a wonderful singer” named Doug England who sounded like Rod Stewart.

“I’ve been listening to [the recordings and]…going, ‘Hey man, these guys are pretty good,'” says Clifford.

Doug also tells ABC Radio that he’s interested in getting involved in music publishing and shopping around some songs he helped write.

Clifford says that after putting out the archival album, he might work on new songs, “because a couple of the guys that I wrote with are still alive and wanting to do that.”

Meanwhile, Creedence Revisited currently has concerts lined up into October, and Clifford says the band likely will tour into 2020.
