A juvenile from DeSoto, Missouri, was injured in a boat fire on Bull Shoals Lake Wednesday afternoon. Riley Stubbs, whose age is unknown, was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries following the incident.

The Missouri State Water Patrol says Stubbs was a passenger in a boat that was launched and idling when a fire started in the engine compartment and spread to the rest of the watercraft. Stubbs and the driver of the boat, 56-year-old Kelly Stubbs of St. Louis, jumped from the burning vessel and swam to shore.

The boat continued to burn and eventually sank in the lake.

The incident happened at the Twin Forks Resort boat ramp about 5 miles south of Isabella in Ozark County at noon Wednesday.
