The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its efforts to assist in the investigation of a missing Kansas woman.
In the latest development, multiple news outlets are reporting Sheriff Glenn Wheeler has released a video showing 51-year-old Sherry Lynn Babcock of Potwin, Kansas, at the Buffalo Outdoor Center in Ponca.
The video shows Babcock in the store wearing a long-sleeve shirt and black pants.
The Kansas woman’s unlocked car was found abandoned in Ponca, along with her purse, money and credit cards inside.
The discovery of the vehicle came the day after Babcock reportedly visited with friends in the Searcy area. She was last seen at home Nov. 16.
Wheeler says investigators are using phone pings, bloodhounds, investigative interviews and other resources to try and determine where Babcock may have gone. At this point in the investigation, Wheeler is not ruling out foul play. He has described the situation as being a “very unusual circumstance.”
Babcock is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, 125 pounds with blue eyes and sandy blonde hair.
Sheriff Wheeler asks if anyone has seen Babcock since Friday to notify the Newton County Sheriffs Office at (870) 446-5124 or the Butler County, Kansas Sheriffs Office at (316) 322-4254.
