Calico Rock graduating senior Emma Mitchell has been selected as a 2020 Arkansas Governor’s Distinguished Scholar, according to Calico Rock Public Schools.
The Arkansas Governor’s Distinguished Scholarships are awarded annually to high-achieving students in the state. Criteria for the scholarship are 32 or higher on the ACT and a 3.5 or higher GPA. The $10,000 scholarship is renewable for up to four years, totaling $40,000.
Mitchell, the daughter of Steven and Sarah Mitchell, scored a 33 on the ACT and will graduate as valedictorian of her class. She maintained a GPA of 4.225 while also completing 27 college hours.
Mitchell has been admitted to the Honors College at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where she will major in psychology. Mitchell plans to return to Calico Rock and open a family mental health services practice, after she earns a doctorate degree.
