A woman from the Jordan area has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, after allegedly shooting her ex-husband in the face over the Memorial Day weekend. Thirty-six-year-old Mika Dee Seay is facing two felony charges in the case. She turned herself in Wednesday evening at the Baxter County Detention Center.
According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, Seay and her ex-husband, though divorced, still live in the same residence. During the evening last Friday, Seay and the victim were apparently wrestling and according to a witness, the victim had accidentally dropped Seay “on her butt in the mud.”
A short time later, Seay, the victim and two witnesses were leaving the residence with the victim driving and Seay in the back seat of the truck behind him. One witness told a Baxter County sheriff’s investigator, the victim turned around to say something to Seay, when she allegedly pulled a small pistol from her waistband and shot the man in the face.
Another witness took the victim to Salesville to meet up with emergency medical personnel. The victim was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment and later transferred to a Springfield hospital. While being interviewed at the hospital, the victim allegedly told law enforcement he had shot himself accidentally.
When the witness who transported the victim to meet medical personnel returned to Seay’s house and went inside, he found her asleep. She awoke and asked where the victim was, to which the witness responded “the hospital.” Seay reportedly said “good” and went back to sleep.
Seay is charged with one count each of criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree and domestic battery in the first degree. She is free after posting $100,000 bond.
