Three local organizations are among 46 cultural groups throughout Arkansas sharing over $463,000 in grant funds awarded by the Arkansas Humanities Council. The funding is from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as part of the $2.2 trillion CARES Act economic stabilization plan appropriated by the U.S. Congress.
A post on the Calico Rock Community Foundation, Inc.’s Facebook page notes it is one of the three local organizations, along with the Boone County Historical and Railroad Society and the Boone County Library, sharing in the grant awards.
CARES Act grants provide unrestricted operating and/or humanities program support to humanities organizations throughout Arkansas who have suffered financial losses due to COVID-19. These grants provide immediate funds to museums, historical societies, college and universities and other humanities-based cultural organizations to help stabilize and provide funding for them to maintain essential functions and retain core personnel during this public health crisis.
The Arkansas Humanities Council CARES Act grant provided up to $15,000 to assist with loss of salaries, utilities, rent or lease payments, humanities-based virtual programming and other losses due to the pandemic.
