The Cotter School Board held its regular July meeting Thursday night dealing with a lengthy agenda. Several items of interest highlighted the meeting, according to Superintendent Vanessa Thomas-Jones.

Classes in Cotter are now scheduled to begin Aug. 24, and the last day of school will be May 28.
Schools in Arkansas were forced to change their calendars when Gov. Asa Hutchinson last week mandated schools could not open before Aug. 24 to allow more time to prepare due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cotter board voted to accept the resignations of elementary teacher Ashton Barnett and paraprofessional Sally Foster.
Several student transfers were approved, two from Cotter to Mountain Home and one into the Cotter district from Flippin.
The board also approved a general service agreement between the Flippin and Cotter school districts for a food service director and to apply for the Food Service Community Eligibility program.
