A not guilty plea was entered during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday for a Mountain Home man alleged to have made more than 100 threatening phone calls. The calls were made to local law enforcement agencies, Briarcliff City Hall, Baxter Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and a local doctor’s office.
Fifty-eight-year-old Glenn Hall Luther is accused of making 72 of those calls to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office alone in the span of just over seven hours in early December last year.
Hall identified himself in various calls as Glenn Wolfe, Jesus Christ, the devil and Conway Twitty version 2.0.
His attorney, John Crain, waived arraignment and entered his client’s not guilty plea.
Many of the calls were described as threatening. Deputies were reported to have gone to Luther’s local address, at one point, but could not locate him. When his cellphone was “pinged,” it was located in Colorado.
Luther has listed an address in Fort Collins, Colorado, on various court papers, in addition to one along Sycamore Springs Circle in Mountain Home.
In approximately 25 calls Luther allegedly made to Briarcliff City Hall, he is reported to have demanded money he said was owned to him from a property transaction involving him and a man described as his domestic partner, Samson Gardner.
Many of the calls to the city hall were lewd. Luther is also alleged to have threatened to “gut” one employee who answered a call.
He also said he would make sure the Briarcliff mayor died, along with the “Briarcliff pig cop.” In another call, he referenced digging graves “for all of you.”
During the investigation into the Briarcliff calls, attempts were made to contact Luther. The answering machine at his number was said to report he was in Midway or Denver or 15 minutes away at various times
Calls were also received by the Mountain Home Police Department (MHPD). In addition, MHPD received reports from BRMC reporting Luther had allegedly contacted the health care facility, cussed and made various threats.
Luther is also said to have called a doctor’s office several times, using profanity and making threats against the physician and others in the office.
According to court records, Luther was admitted to the Adult Behavioral Unit at BRMC in February last year.
During his stay, BRMC staff found Luther on the floor in his room stabbing himself with the earpiece of his glasses in the neck and chest area.
When staff members attempted to get control of Luther, he is alleged to have stabbed one of them with the earpiece of his glasses and spit on others.
He referred to himself at times as the “found lord” and once requested he be allowed to talk to a doctor and Andy Griffith, referring to both as “superheroes.”
Luther has also been involved in a number of court cases in Missouri, some involving protective orders.
