MH gets swept in non-conference finales at Jonesboro

The Mountain Home High School basketball teams wrapped up non-conference play on a rough note Saturday, as they were swept at Jonesboro.

The evening began with the Lady Bombers falling to the Lady Hurricane 62-39. Jonesboro jumped out early on Mountain Home ending the first quarter with a 17-3 lead. As the game continued, the Lady Hurricane inched further away from the Lady Bombers, as they went on to post the 23-point win.
Kate Gilbert led Mountain Home with 16 points, and Addison Yates added 10. For Jonesboro, Ereauna Hardaway scored 20 points, and Lakiya Scott chipped in 13.
The Lady Bombers fall to 1-10 on the season. The Lady Hurricane improves to 8-3.

The afternoon wasn’t any better for Mountain Home’s boys, as they lost to Jonesboro 63-28. It was a game in which the Bombers not only struggled to shoot but also had trouble taking care of the ball. Mountain Home committed 17 turnovers, compared to four for the Hurricane. Jonesboro was able to invoke the mercy rule the moment the final quarter began, and the game ended with a 35-point margin.
No one was in double figures for the Bombers. Jonesboro was led by Jesse Washington with 18 points, Isaac Harrell provided 13 off the bench, and Keyln McBride had 12.
The Bombers drop to 4-5 on the year. The Hurricane is now 5-3.

Tuesday will be the 5A-West opener for both Mountain Home teams, as they travel to Alma.
