A man in the Jordan area wound up getting robbed, after allowing his neighbor to use his phone. Law enforcement arrested 21-year-old Seth Michael Tilley Monday for the incident, which occurred last month.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says Tilley allegedly went to his neighbor’s house Feb. 15 and asked to use the phone to call for a ride. Tilley had to leave a message for a relative to call him back, and the neighbor agreed to let him wait inside his house for the return call.

During this time, the victim went to sleep. When he awoke, he discovered some of his belongings were missing, including some which were locked inside a secured room in the house that had been broken into. Among the items allegedly stolen were $300 in cash and five different types of prescription medications. Deputies also found a marijuana pipe on a table in the house, which the home owner says belonged to Tilley.

Investigators attempted to locate Tilley at the time the report was taken, but he could not be found. He was arrested Monday in the Jordan area.

Tilley is charged with a felony count of residential burglary and misdemeanor counts of theft of property, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of failure to appear. His bond is set at $15,000, and he is expected to appear in circuit court Thursday.
