A total of 153 people received the first dose of the Pfzier BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Monday at a vaccination event held at the Trout Room at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center.

The event, co-sponsored by Baxter Regional Medical Center, Arkansas State University-Mountain Home and the Baxter County Health Unit, was held across the hall from Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s “Community COVID Conversation” town hall meeting.

Hutchinson used Monday’s meeting to promote COVID vaccinations and answer any vaccine-related questions the public might have.

Ethan Altenbaumer was one of the 153 to receive the first round of their vaccination shots Monday at The Sheid. Those patients are scheduled to return on Aug. 16 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to receive their second and final dose of the vaccine.

Altenbaumer said he wanted to get vaccinated before school resumes next month.
