A 28-year-old Calico Rock woman faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, after a domestic disturbance Saturday in the Oxford area.

Lora Bell Hill is charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, a felony. She also faces misdemeanor charges of third-degree domestic battery, two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, refusal to submit to arrest and disorderly conduct.

Izard County authorities received a call of a domestic disturbance involving a gun Saturday evening shortly before 6 at an address on Ballard Lane. Deputies found the property owners speaking with a woman, later identified as Hill. One of the owners handed over a pistol to authorities, which he said he had held secure after the disturbance.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hill allegedly confronted her husband over his son’s alleged use of a vaping device and demanded the child be punished. Hill told authorities her husband took her car keys to prevent her from leaving and the teen took her gun from the passenger seat. Hill claimed that when she tried to get her keys back, she was attacked by the three people.

The other parties involved told a different story.

The husband claimed Hill entered a camper on the property and pulled a knife on him and other occupants. The husband also said Hill claimed she was going “kill herself.” The man then followed Bell to the vehicle, where he claims she entered the car and pulled a gun from her purse, “cocked it” and pointed it at him. Hill allegedly pulled the trigger and the gun did not fire.

Other involved parties stated Bell attacked them while in an attempt to retrieve the weapon, as well as began trying to destroy the windows of a car and other items. The affidavit reports the bystanders attempted to separate the parties during the tussle.

After interviewing all the involved parties, authorities pulled Hill aside in an effort to avoid her children becoming upset after hearing that she would be arrested. Hill allegedly began yelling to the children “that she was going to jail.” Hill then began yelling at the husband when he approached the area and began to move toward him.

Officers attempted to place her in restraints at that point, with Bell becoming uncooperative and attempting to pull away. One of her children began hanging on to her, forcing authorities to remove all of the children from the area.

Bell was finally placed in restraints and seated in a police cruiser, where she continued to scream and banged on the window until transported to the Izard County Detention Center. She remains jailed on a $5,000 bond.
