A Texas woman who accused Searcy County deputies of sexual harassment and racist behavior faces a felony charge for filing a false report, according to an affidavit filed Aug. 26 in Searcy County Circuit Court.
Forty-year-old Eveyln Sauceda, who has a listed address of Midland, Texas, was charged with filing a false report with a law enforcement agency. Sauceda was originally arrested June 12 on drug charges after a vehicle she was a passenger in was stopped, and authorities located black containers labeled “contained marijuana” that held a green leafy substance, a drink container that tested positive for PCP and rolling papers.
After the arrest, Sauceda filed a complaint stating an officer offered to “make all this go away” if she performed a sex act. Sauceda also accused the deputies excessive force during her arrest and making racist comments regarding her ethnicity.
The affidavit states that all law enforcement personnel were interviewed, along with monitoring all of Sauceda’s communications while in custody, providing no proof to any of Sauceda’s accusations. An additional allegation that authorities tried to harass members of the public at two locations during the Sauceda investigation proved fruitless according to the affidavit.
Body camera footage of the arrest was not available due to the officer’s camera being on a charger when the traffic stop was initiated. An unknown male driver fled the vehicle when it came to a stop and escaped into the woods, with the deputy giving chase before having a chance to affix the camera. Body camera footage showing Sauceda’s transportation to the jail showed no contact between the deputies and the woman.
During the investigation, authorities contacted Sauceda to come in for an interview, but the affidavit states she refused “because she had left the State of Arkansas in fear for her life.”
Sauceda was originally charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, hindering apprehension or prosecution, tampering with evidence and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
