High school football is included on the local Friday schedule, as the postseason begins in Arkansas, and Mountain Home starts off on the road. The Bombers will start the Class 6A State Playoffs in Sherwood, as they meet Sylvan Hills.
Mountain Home enters the playoffs as the sixth-seeded team from the 6A-West. The Bombers are 3-7 on the season after losing to Little Rock Parkview last week. Sylvan Hills ended up finishing third in the 6A-East. The Bears are 7-3 coming off a win at Searcy.
Bombers’ head coach Steve Ary says Mountain Home’s defense will face an unusual offense installed by Bears’ head coach Chris Hill, a former offensive coordinator at Harding University.

Yellville-Summit will also hit the road,as they begin action in the Class 2A State Playoffs. The Panthers’ opening opponent in the postseason will be McCrory.
Yellville-Summit ended up in fifth place in the 2A-4. The Panthers fell to Mountainburg last week to drop to 4-6. McCrory won the 2A-3 conference championship. The Jaguars are 8-1, and their last game was eight days ago, when they breezed past Earle.
McCrory has spent much of the season as the top-ranked team in Class 2A by the Arkansas Sports Media, but Yellville-Summit head coach Justin Crain says his team has a chance for an upset, if they play the way they’re capable of.

Two area teams will play their first games in the Class 3A State Playoffs. Salem travels to Booneville, and Melbourne hosts Perryville.
Harrison will be in Little Rock to start the Class 5A State Playoffs. The Goblins will be paired with Pulaski Academy.
The postseason continues in Missouri as district championships and state playoff bids will be awarded this week.
West Plains will have home field advantage for the title game of the Class 4, District 6 Playoffs. The top-seeded Zizzers entertain McDonald County.
Two area teams will square off in the final of the Class 2, District 3 Playoffs. Top-seeded Ava will be at home against Mountain View-Liberty.
Thayer will be on the road for the championship game of the Class 1, District 3 Playoffs. The Bobcats make the trip to top-seeded Marionville.
Mountain Grove will stay home for title game of the Class 3, District 6 Playoffs. The Panthers will be matched up with Seneca.
