Construction has begun on a new venue that will be located off Peppersauce Alley behind Main Street in Calico Rock. The Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center will open The Nook in March of 2022. The Nook will be an exhibit and expo center.

The space is intended to host special exhibits, art shows, weddings, family reunions, conferences, fundraisers and other functions. Plans call for the facility to have a handicap accessible entrance from Peppersauce Alley where there is ample parking for special events just across the street. The deck at the entrance of The Nook will connect to the decks behind the museum, creating an outdoor space with ample room for events and social activities.

The event space is being outfitted with state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment for any type of function. In addition to the event space, The Nook will have handicap accessible restrooms and a catering service kitchen. It has been designed with multiple uses and events in mind.

The Nook is being made possible by a grant from the Windgate Foundation and will include a secret sculpture garden and will include modern art. Museum officials envision also using the space for book talks, poetry readings, culinary events, demonstrations and shows by artists.

The first event in The Nook will be the dedication of the Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center in March. The completion of this space is the final phase of the three-year expansion and relocation of the museum into the 14,000-square-foot-facility.
