A Howell County man, 23-year-old Christian Bates of West Plains, has been charged with a felony count of driving while intoxicated – persistent offender following a one-vehicle accident Friday evening that seriously injured his passenger.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred 5 miles north of Thayer on Missouri 19 at 6:45.
Bates’ vehicle reportedly traveled off the roadway, struck the ground and overturned.
The passenger in his vehicle, 18-year-old Sabe R. Quirrels of Hardy, was transported to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment of her injuries.
In addition to the felony DWI charge, records indicate Bates was cited for failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
