
It was a busy Tuesday night for high school basketball in the area.
In girls’ action:
-Flippin topped Yellville-Summit 66-55.
-At the Battle of the Border (BOB) Tournament at Mammoth Spring, Viola overcame a 16-point deficit late in the first half to defeat Alton 56-52. A.J. McCandlis paced the Lady Longhorns with 20 points, and Trenity Sherrill scored 12, as Viola improves to 7-7 on the season.
-In the other game at the BOB Tournament, Mammoth Spring destroyed Koshkonong 90-8. Megyn Upton and Laney Young led five players in double figures with 16 points each, and Chevelle Graves, Brynn Washam and Sara Crowe each scored 12 points.
-Calico Rock picked up a 33-16 win over Shirley to improve to 5-9.
-Salem improved to 8-1 with a 46-39 victory over Tuckerman. Marleigh Sellers had 17 points for the Lady Greyhounds, and Chelsea Hamilton scored 16.
-Izard County lost to Rural Special 59-30. Katie Orf scored 24 points for the Lady Cougars. Izard County won the junior girls’ game 43-21 to improve to 11-1 on the season. Megan McBride led the way with 11 points.
-Melbourne is now 9-0 after downing White Count Central 61-21.
-Mountain View was a 69-31 winner over Riverview to improve to 4-3 on the season.
-Valley Springs downed West Fork 41-29. The Lady Tigers are now 10-5.
-Lead Hill lost to Kingston 66-12.
In boys’ games:
-Cotter won at home over Alpena 50-42. Hayden Hutson led a trio of players in double figures with 19 points, Hudson Adams had 12, and Jeffry Haynes scored 11. Cotter won the junior boys’ game 38-26. C.J. Hoskins scored 13 for the Junior Warriors.
-Flippin was a 55-25 winner over Yellville-Summit to move its record to 8-5.
-Gainesville defeated Bakersfield 66-56.
-Calico Rock earned a 68-41 win over Shirley and is now 15-4 on the season.
-At the Battle of the Border Tournament in Mammoth Spring, Viola lost to Highland 50-46, and Mountain View Liberty defeated the host Bears 80-56. Gavin Boddie scored 17 for Mammoth Spring, and Brayden Cray had 11.
-Izard County defeated Rural Special 61-47. Gunner Gleghorn had 21 points for the Cougars, and Denton Reiley scored 11.
-Melbourne downed White County Central 69-41 to move its record to 5-2.
-Valley Springs was a 72-66 winner over West Fork. The Tigers are now 10-8.
-Marshall fell to Lisa Academy North 71-54. The Bobcats are now 8-4.
-Lead Hill was a 51-43 winner over Kingston. Quintin Sewell led the Tigers’ attack with 16 points, Will Mancinelli scored 15, and Dustin Turner had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. In the junior boys’ game, Lead Hill lost to Kingston 36-21.
-Bergman raced past Elkins 71-57 to improve to 17-2 on the season.
-Jasper outscored Omaha 81-70.
