Photo: New restoration work has started at the 1832 John Wolf Cabin. Old mortar (daubing) is being removed and new daubing will be inserted using the original formula found at the Wolf House.

There is also a third timber structure on site that is not historical but will be retrofitted to become the visitor center. Officials at the Wolf House say they are using the same historic preservation guidelines that have been used since 1999 which will leave the structure with 80% of its original integrity.

Mowdy explains the structures have had a lengthy history, but they have been well preserved.

The Jacob Wolf House is the last surviving structure of the frontier Liberty community.

Officials from the Wolf House say preserving and protecting an almost 200-year-old structure is ongoing and requires a great deal of attention to detail to ensure historic authenticity.
