The pilot of a fatal plane crash last month in Fulton County said in a series of text messages he “ran into weather can’t see anything,” and he ran “out of gas in air.” That’s according to the aviation accident preliminary report released by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

According to KAIT-TV, Fulton County Sheriff Al Roork says 57-year-old Bradley Dunham of Bono was piloting the plane on Dec. 26 when it crashed near Hardy. Dunham and a passenger, 52-year-old Christine Ann Price of Walnut Ridge, were both killed in the crash.

The NTSB report says a family member provided copies of Dunham’s text messages to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, as the plane was in flight. Authorities from Fulton and Sharp counties were called in around 5:30 that evening, after witnesses reported hearing and seeing a plane go down. The wreckage was located the next day on heavily-wooded private property.

Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts says there was heavy fog in the area.
