The Marion County Quorum Court will consider seven items of business when it meets in regular session Tuesday evening at 6.

Among the items is a resolution seeking to remove Carl W. McBee Jr. from the Marion County Library Board.

The resolution is sponsored by justices Mike Scrima, Rick White and Claudia Brigham.

It notes McBee’s removal is being sought “due to intimidation of Quorum Court members, threatening of lawsuits, and abuse of authority regarding the pay increases for county employees.”

The court will also be asked to take action on two resolutions regarding vacancies in the offices of the county collector and coroner.

The vacancy in the office of county collector is due to the retirement of Cathy Brightwell at the end of 2021.

The resolution seeks to appoint Anthony Todaro to the position effective Wednesday until the expiration of the term on Dec. 31.

The vacancy in the office of county coroner is set to occur Saturday with the retirement of Keith Barnes.

The resolution notes the court will appoint an individual to fill the position after interviewing interested parties. The individual selected will serve until the end of the term on Dec. 31.

In an email to Judge John Massey, Barnes says he has served as coroner since 2016, after serving in the capacity as deputy in the office since 1994.

The quorum court will also consider a resolution supporting a $3,000 state income tax credit for full-time law enforcement officers. It’s an effort that failed to gain passage when the legislature met in early 2021 and again in special session in December.

The state income tax credit is a move from the Governor’s Task Force to Advance the State of Law Enforcement in Arkansas.

The quorum court meeting will be held in the Marion County Courthouse.
