A boil water order has been issued in the city of Cotter. According to a post on the Cotter City Hall Facebook page, a water main break occurred at the intersection with U.S. Highway 62/412 and Harding Boulevard (U.S. Highway 62B) Wednesday night. Mayor McGeorge Caradine says repairs were finished around 1 Thursday morning.

The Baxter County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is assisting Cotter City Hall in making sure each resident has the appropriate amount of water needed. The OEM Office will deliver bottled water to the Cotter Fire Department Thursday morning. For more information, visit cityofcotter.org, the Cotter City Hall Facebook page or call city hall at (870) 435-6326 or the fire department at (870) 435-7029.

The boil order will remain in effect until further notice. Water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
