The extension of Superintendent Vanessa Thomas Jones’ contract through the 2023-2024 academic year highlighted the business conducted at the Cotter School Board meeting Thursday evening.
The recommendation followed a motion by board member Allen Franks. Members Luke Walker, Jimmy Morgan and Donald Marler were also in attendance, with Robert Benedict absent, according to minutes of the meeting provided by the school district.
Superintendent Jones presented the board with certificates of appreciation for their service to the Cotter School District for the school year 2021-2022. All board members exceeded the six hours of continuing education credit required during the 2021 calendar year.
The board approved a presentation from Superintendent Jones for an Application for a Permit to Issue Bonds with related documents for $3.9 million in refunding and construction bonds to the State Department of Education and to employ First Security Beardsley as fiscal agent.
Jones reported the elementary enrollment is at 368, while high school enrollment is at 348, for a total enrollment of 716.
