Mountain Home High School’s Bomb Squad wrapped up the Arkansas Regional First Robotics Tournament with a win. Next step, the First World Championship, which kicks off Wednesday in Houston, Texas.
Teacher Jackie Basinger and team member Audrey Young sat down with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news to discuss the trials of the competitions and what they expect from the world championship.
Basinger says the most difficult part of the Arkansas regional competition was the ability to prepare.

Young says the team expected nothing less than to win in Arkansas, especially after competing in the regionals at Orlando, but they are keeping that same excitement as the world championship begins.

Young says the most exciting part about the competitions is the energy of the participants and the ability to interact with teams from all over who share a common interest in the robotics world.
Bomb Squad walked away from the regional competition with the first place prize, as well as the Autonomous award for the pre-programmed five ball autonomous on the team’s robot. Olivia Martin received the Dean’s List Finalist award for her love for robotics and science education with the younger Lego League. She will compete in the world championship for one of 12 spots for the Dean’s List winner.
The World Championship will take place through Saturday in Houston.
