A man arrested on new charges while he was in the Baxter County Detention Center on old charges appeared in circuit court Monday.

Thirty-six-year-old William Shilo Malone of Midway has several criminal cases either open or reactivated, according to electronic court records.

He pled guilty to charges in two open criminal cases during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Monday and was sentenced to five years in prison.

In one case, Malone admitted possessing contraband while in jail on Sept. 28.

According to the probable cause affidavit, sheriff’s office personnel conducted a search of E-Pod and found Malone to have a pair of scissors in his possession.

OTHER CASES INVOLVING MALONE AND OTHERS

Malone and 40-year-old Kerry Janal Sager of Mountain Home were arrested July 15 last year by officers checking on what was described as suspicious activity at the Mountain Home Inn.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers from the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force saw Malone drive into the parking lot in a white Volvo and let himself into a room with a card key.

After a few minutes, Sager was seen getting out of the same vehicle.

She was reported to have knocked on the door of the room and was let in by Malone.

After about an hour, Malone and Sager left the motel and drove to Casey’s General Store on Highway 62/412 East.

They were arrested at that point. Both were on probation at the time and Malone had an active arrest warrant issued by the Mountain Home Police Department.

A person on probation is required to sign a waiver permitting warrantless searches of person and property.

After arresting Malone and Sager, officers returned to the motel and searched the room that had been occupied by the pair.

They found three plastic bags containing almost 53 grams of methamphetamine and a number of items of drug paraphernalia, including digital scales, multiple syringes and a glass smoking bong.

They also reported finding three “lines of a white crystal-like substance on the bathroom sink.”

Evidence, including personal possessions, indicated both Malone and Sager had occupied the room, according to investigative reports.

Sager was reported to have told officers the room was rented in her name.

Sager was on probation out of Florida at the time of her arrest in Mountain Home. She was being supervised locally after transferring here under provisions of the Interstate Compact.
