Thursday schedule includes home finale for MHHS softball

Baseball and softball make up much of the local Thursday schedule.

The Mountain Home High School softball team will be at McClain Park for the final time this season. The Lady Bombers will also have its nonconference finale against Southside Batesville. The varsity game begins at 4:30 followed by the junior varsity contest.

The 2A-1 District Softball Tournament will be held at Cotter. The host Lady Warriors face Yellville-Summit at 3:30, and the winner takes on top-seeded Flippin for t he championship at 5:30.

The 1A-2 District Tournament will get underway. Norfork and Izard County take the field at noon, and the winner plays Shirley at 3. Calico Rock will be paired with Rural Special at 1:30, and Viola gets the winner at 4:30.

Mammoth Spring goes to Strawberry for its semifinal game in the 1A-3 District Tournament at Hillcrest High School. The top-seeded Lady Bears plays at 2 against the winner of the noon game between Marked Tree and Maynard.

Melbourne will be at Midland High School in Pleasant Plains for its first game in the 2A-2 District Tournament. The Lady Bearkatz will compete in the semifinals against the winner of Tuesday’s game between Cedar Ridge and Sloan-Hendrix at 6.

Marshall goes to Bigelow for its opener in the 2A-5 District Tournament. The Lady Bobcats will take the field at 5 against the winner of Wednesday’s game between Conway Christian and St. Joseph.

Harrison will be at home for its next game in the 4A-1 District Tournament. The Lady Goblins face Gravett at 4.

Elsewhere, Bakersfield travels to Koshkonong.

Mountain Home’s junior high baseball team was scheduled to play at Batesville, but those games have been canceled.

On the high school level, the semifinals of the 2A-1 District Tournament will be held at Cotter. Yellville-Summit takes on top-seeded Life Way Christian at 4, and the host Warriors play Flippin at 6.

The 1A-2 District Tournament will get started. Calico Rock and Shirley begin at noon, and Norfork gets the winner at 4. Viola will be matched up with Concord at 2.

Two area teams will take part in the semifinals of the 2A-2 District Tournament at Midland High School in Pleasant Plains. Top-seeded Melbourne faces Tuckerman at 4, and Salem takes on White County Central at 6.

Mammoth Spring heads back to Hillcrest High School in Strawberry for the semifinals of the 1A-3 District Tournament. The Bears play the host and top-seeded Screamin’ Eagles at 2.

Harrison stays home for its next game in the 4A-1 District Tournament. The Goblins go up against Farmington at 6:30.

In other high school baseball, Bakersfield hosts Cabool.
