MHHS track results include new state meet record

The Mountain Home High School track teams had several big performances during the Class 5A State Meet Friday at Van Buren. The Bombers finished second on the boys’ side, and Mountain Home’s girls ended up ninth.

On the boys’ side, William Hill, Andrew Westphal and Anderson and Bryson Hodges set a Class 5A State Meet record in winning the 4×800-meter relay in 8:00.8. Brody Patterson, Ky Bickford and Anderson and Bryson Hodges also set a school record of 3:26.06 to win the 4×400-meter relay. In addition, Bickford won the 1600-meter run, and Patterson won the 300-meter hurdles.

Other All-State performances include Michael Davis finishing second in the pole vault, Westphal ending up second in the 3200-meter run and Patterson taking second place in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Bombers had other qualifiers for the Meet of Champions. Anderson Hodges and Bickford were second and fifth respectively in the 800-meter run, Robert Dover finished third in the pole vault, and Brady Barnett ended up third in the long jump in a school record of 22′ 4 3/4″.

Jordan Ritenburg led the Mountain Home girls with an All-State performance and a second place finish in the 3200-meter run, and teammate Rylee Patterson’s third place finish was good enough to qualify for the Meet of Champions. The team of Bailey Ritenburg, Patterson, Erika Krueger and Jordan Ritenburg also advanced to the Meet of Champions after taking third place in the 4×800-meter run.

The Meet of Champions is scheduled for Wednesday at Russellville.
