A man was arrested in Fulton County Tuesday for sexually assaulting a six-year-old minor. Thirty-three-year-old Jansen Smith faces two felony counts of second-degree sexual assault.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of the accusations on Friday. Investigators with the sheriff’s office and the Arkansas State Police’s Crimes Against Children Division conducted the investigation in northern Fulton County.
Last year, Smith had allegedly walked into the child’s room and told the victim to touch him inappropriately. The child reportedly used a blanket over the hand to avoid touching Smith. Jansen then allegedly took the child to the bus stop, set the victim on his lap and told the child to again touch him inappropriately. The victim reportedly put the jacket sleeve over the hand to avoid touching Smith.
The child claimed there had been other occasions in which Smith came into the room and committed inappropriate acts. When asked if safety was felt at home, the child said only when Smith is not there.
A phone interview was later conducted with Jansen by a Fulton County investigator. Jansen reportedly accused other males of assaulting the child.
Jansen’s bond was set at $100,000.
