A man who moved to this area from Illinois and failed to transfer his sex offender registration appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court recently.

Fifty-four-year-old Dean O. Mills was arrested July 17 when a vehicle in which he was riding was stopped in Gassville and methamphetamine and paraphernalia to ingest methamphetamine were found.

When an NCIC check was run on Mills, he was shown to be a sex offender and to have absconded from Illinois.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Mills was found guilty of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Mason County, Illinois.

The victim in the case was reported to have been a 13-year-old female. At the time the assault occurred, Mills was 34-years-old.
