Izard County man charged with burglary of heirloom jewelry

An Izard County man is facing burglary, theft and criminal trespassing charges after being observed on security camera footage entering a locked residence.

According to the probable cause affidavit 42-year-old Brian Lynn Latore of Mount Pleasant, had entered the master bedroom and had stolen several valuable heirloom rings from a jewelry box. After reviewing the security camera footage, the victim was immediately able to identify the suspect as Latore.

When law enforcement spoke with the suspect over the phone, Latore did not deny that he entered the residence unlawfully and committed theft.

He is accused of stealing least 13 pieces of gold and silver, some containing precious gemstones. In addition to the jewelry, approximately six to seven loose Buffalo Nickels were stolen along with $18 cash.

Latore has previously convicted of four felonies, and plead guilty to at least two prior charges of criminal trespass. He is charged with felony counts of residential burglary, theft of property and criminal trespass and is being held in the Izard County Detention Center on $40,000 bond.
