A body was found early Sunday afternoon in a vehicle in Izard County, and authorities believe it may be of a Melbourne man reported missing over a month ago. Authorities have been searching for 63-year-old Mark Ellis since he was reported missing on Sept. 15.
According to Izard County Chief Deputy Charley Melton, authorities were called around 12:30 Sunday to an area west of Violet Hill near Arkansas Highway 56 and the intersection with Larkin Road. A vehicle was located in a wooded area nearly 100 yards from the highway, and a deceased individual was found inside.
Deputies say the vehicle description and vehicle license plate matched the description of Ellis’ vehicle. There were no signs of foul play. The investigation is ongoing pending identification and cause of death from the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock.
