Carol Wegerer was a long-time teacher of mathematics in the Mountain Home School District, and this Thursday, she will receive recognition for her contributions during the Mountain Home Education Foundation’s Night of Honors. She will be Class of 2022’s retired educator for the Hall of Honor.
Wegerer says she was caught off guard when she was informed about her upcoming induction.
Listen:
After teaching in her home state of Illinois for six years, Wegerer and her husband relocated to Mountain Home nearly 43 years ago. She began a four-decade tenure of teaching math at the middle school, junior high and high school levels.
Wegerer says one thing she is proud of in her time as an educator is seeing the students she taught and what they’ve become in their adult lives.
Listen:
Wegerer says one question she’s often asked is what is one memory that stands out from her time as a teacher. She says it’s difficult to point to one thing, but when she sees some of her former students, they reflect back on the times they shared.
