Approximately 70 firefighters from 10 departments were called to a blaze at Folk Art Antiques near the city limits of Gassville on U.S. Highway 62/412 West. Officials have confirmed a fatality but the identity has not been released at this time. The body will be sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab for identification and to determine the cause of death.
Gassville Fire Chief Michael Glotzl stated there were two structures near the rear of the property, a vehicle and multiple propane tanks were on fire upon arrival. The cause of the fire is still undetermined at this time.
Glotzl reported as winds were blowing flames in the direction of Montgomery Heating and Aire, the facility was saved mainly in part due to the Baxter County Tanker Task Force, as it was able to dedicate a consistent water flow to protect the building.
In the area of the blaze, there is limited water as it was near the last fire hydrant of the city. Glotzl states he is thankful for the cooperation of fire departments around Baxter County and surrounding cities, including Mountain Home and Flippin.
