A 24-year-old man who has recently been locked up in the Hempstead County jail in southern Arkansas was in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday to face criminal charges filed locally.
Jonathan Fry pled guilty to drug-related charges in two criminal cases. He was put on probation for three years and required to complete a “drug court type program” in Hempstead County.
According to court records, Fry has three closed criminal cases in Hempstead County, the two open cases in Baxter County and a closed case in Nevada County.
Charges in the cases include possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia used to ingest the drug, fleeing on foot and hindering prosecution by hiding a fugitive.
Fry was booked into the Hempstead County Jail Feb. 10 on charges listed in the jail log as violating parole and possessing drug paraphernalia.
BAXTER COUNTY CASES
His Baxter County charges stem from two arrests.
The first came in mid July 2021. An officer with the Gassville Police Department went to an address along Mountain Loop to arrest Fry who was then a parole absconder.
As the officer approached the residence, he reported the front door to the residence was open and he saw Fry standing in the living room.
Fry was arrested without incident. As he was being put into a patrol car, he told the officer he had “stuff” in his sock.
The officer found a small plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
In September of last year, Fry was arrested again on a number of warrants. A Mountain Home officer spotted Fry near the intersection of State Highway 201 North and West North Street.
The reported that as he approached Fry took off running.
A civilian working on restriping a nearby pharmacy’s parking lot called out to the officer asking if he needed assistance stopping Fry.
When told the officer could use help, the man began chasing Fry. The pursuit ended when the civilian and the officer caught up with each other in the vicinity of Elite Home Health Care.
Fry was taken into custody. He was found to have suspected methamphetamine on his person.
The two Baxter County criminal cases opened as a result of the 2021 arrests are shown on electronic court records as being inactive since Fry was serving time in another county.
