A West Plains man has been acquitted of a fatal shooting outside of a truck stop, according to a report from KYTV/KSPR. Damian Paul Henry had been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old James Harlan Vineyard of West Plains.
West Plains Police Chief Stephen Monitcelli says officers were called to the 14-Junction Truck Stop on U.S. Highway 63 North at on April 5 for reports of a subject being shot.
Responding officers located a male, later identified as Vineyard, who had been shot numerous times. The victim was transported to Ozarks Healthcare where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies from the Howell County Sheriff’s Office later spotted a vehicle at a residence, and it matched the vehicle described by witnesses at the scene said the suspects fled in. Deputies found two males in the residence, and one was identified as Henry. They were brought in for questioning, with one of the suspects implicating the two as involved in the shooting. Both were arrested, but the other male was not charged with murder.
