During Thursday night’s Mountain Home City Council meeting, the council tabled the discussion of a resolution to establish incentives for residential development within the city limits. When the resolution was initially passed in 2022, the goal was to update existing platted subdivisions so no new infrastructure would need to be created. Since then, more subdivisions have been built with in the city and were not intended to be included in the resolution. Wording for the resolution will be reviewed and presented at a later date.
Representatives from North Arkansas Transportation Services (NATS) were on site to provide the council an update from the three month partnership they entered in with the city in December 2022. The partnership provided citizens of Mountain Home free transportation during the day to medical appointments, shopping or any other needs they had. Jeremy Ragland of NATS reported he was proud of how the program was trending and proposed another three month agreement with the city. The council approved to enter another three month agreement with a vote of 7 to 1 with council member Paige Dillard Evans voting against. The cost to the city would continue to be $1250 per month and free transportation will resume March 3 and run through the end of May.
In addition, the council discussed an ordinance to annex a portion of property along Hilltop Lane in order to continue the water and sewer improvement project along U.S. Highway 62/412 West. Two properties, Dollar General and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, would require easements on their properties to complete the project, which they have already agreed to. The council voted on the ordinance unanimously.
