Yellville-Summit track teams win 2A-1 Conference Meet

The Yellville-Summit High School track teams were able to sweep the 2A-1 Conference Meet Wednesday at Eureka Springs.

On the boys’ side, Cotter finished fifth, and Ozark Mountain was sixth.




Yellville-Summit’s Tristan Teel received the high-point honor as he won the long jump and ended up second in the 100-meter dash and the triple jump and third in the 200-meter dash. Also for the Panthers, Jaxon Whitsell won the pole vault, Jaxton Decker won the 300-meter hurdles and took second place in the 110-meter hurdles, Caleb Hartle finished second in the 400-meter dash, Eden Hardy was second in the 3200-meter run, Cooper Craighead ended up second in the pole vault, Kyloh Koksma took third place in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, Copper Swearingen finished third in the 3200-meter run, Zen Novak was third in the pole vault, Landen Keiter ended up third in the long jump, and Carey Martin took third place in the shot put. Yellville-Summit also won the 4×800-meter relay and finished second in the 4×200-meter and 4×100-meter relays and third in the 4×400-meter relay.

For Cotter, Brooks Cheek was second in the discus, and Ryan Benedict ended up third in the long jump.

In the girls’ results, Ozark Mountain took third place, and Cotter finished seventh.




The high-point award went to Kambree Gibson of Yellville-Summit as she won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump. Also for the Lady Panthers, K.J. Moore won the 400-meter dash and the high jump; Fay Chism won the pole vault and was second in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles and the high jump; Riley Hopson won the 1600-meter run and ended up second in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run; Miah Klump won the discus and took third place in the shot put; Abby Methvin finished second in the 100-meter dash, the long jump and the triple jump; Elle Lee was second in the shot put and the discus; Lucia Zuniga ended up second in the 3200-meter run; Bailey Ervin took third place in the 800-meter run; Kennedi Coleman finished third in the pole vault; Hannah Hayward was third in the long jump; and Sierra Burrow ended up third in the triple jump. Yellville-Summit also won all four relay events.

Malena Alonso was Cotter’s lone athlete on the girls’ side as she took third place in the 400-meter dash.

For Ozark Mountain, Jasmine Fletcher finished second in the pole vault and third in the high jump, and Kelley Middleton was third in the 100-meter dash. The Lady Bears also ended up third in the 4×800-meter relay.
