A bomb threat shut down two Mountain Home grocery stores Friday night. No bombs were found and no injuries were reported.

According to the incident report from the Mountain Home Police Department, the first threat was phoned in to the Harps store on U.S. Highway 62/412 West about 9:20. The store was evacuated and officers began searching the store. While that search was being conducted, a second bomb threat was called in to the midtown Harps store. Mountain Home Police and the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office responded to that location. Both stores were searched and no bombs were found.

The manager of the Harps on Highway 62/412 West told police the caller had a foreign accent and demanded $5,000 in gift cards. If the demand wasn’t met, the caller says a pipe bomb in the store would be detonated. The manager also told police they had received an email from corporate officials advising bomb threats had been occurring at other Harps stores with the same scenario.
