Large turn out for day one of early voting in Baxter County

Tuesday had a large early voter turnout in in Baxter County. 858 voters, or 2.8% of registered voters, participated in day one of early voting.

Baxter County is seeing several races including for Mountain Home School Board candidates and proposed school millage of 34.41 mills representing an increase of 2.5 mills.

Voters in the Calico Rock School District will be voting on a 42.3 mills school tax.

Cotter School District voters will be voting on a 32.67 mills school tax along with voting for School Board candidates for zone 4 and 5. Russel Duggins is running for Zone 4 and Cameron Ross is running for Zone 5

Mountain Home voters will be voting for a new School Board member to a 4 year term between Stewart Rogers, Scott Booth and Scott Bryant.

In addition Mountain Home voters will be a total proposed tax levy of 34.41 mills includes 25.29 mills specifically voted for general maintenance and operation, 6.87 mills voted for debt service previously voted as a continuing levy pledged for the retirement of existing bonded indebtedness (the “Existing Indebtedness”) and 2.25 new debt service mills. The 2.25 new debt service mills plus the existing 6.87 debt service mills now pledged for the retirement of existing bonded indebtedness, which debt service mills will continue after retirement of the bonds to which now pledged, will be a continuing debt service tax until the retirement of proposed bonds to be issued in the principal amount of $55,530,000 and which will mature over a period of 30 years and will be issued for the purpose of erecting and equipping new school facilities and making additions and improvements to existing facilities.

Voters in the Mountain View School District will be voting for a 35.91 mills school tax.

Norfork School District voters will be voting for a 37.39 mills school tax.

And voters in the Viola School District will be voting for a 40.62 mills school tax.

Early voting reports from Marion and Fulton counties have not been released at this time.
