In a meeting Tuesday morning, the Arkansas State University (ASU) System Board of Trustees approved budgets and tuition rates for the 2024 fiscal year for its seven institutions.
At ASU-Mountain Home trustees approved a tuition increase of 4.8%. The rise would see tuition increase from $3,690 to $3,900.
ASU System President Chuck Welch noted unlike K-12 school districts, higher education receives no annual state funding increases for salaries, health insurance, capital projects, utilities or deferred maintenance. Welch expressed gratitude higher education in Arkansas has not experienced funding reductions like other states have.
More information on the tuition increase will be available next week.
